Constitution of the Hayward State Taekwondo Club

Article I - Name
The name of this organization is the Hayward State Taekwondo Club. The Hayward State Taekwondo club may also be abbreviated with, "Hayward State TKD" or "HSTC".

Article II - Purpose
The purpose of this organization is to create a good experience for CSUH Taekwondo Club members by building bonds through involvement and active participation. The Hayward State Taekwondo Club's goals are broken down into the following:
1. Represent Hayward State Taekwondo Students
2. Promote the Hayward State Taekwondo Club
3. Enrich Hayward State Taekwondo Club members experience
4. Encourage Hayward State Taekwondo Club members to participate actively in club demographics.
5. Help support Hayward State Taekwondo programs

Article III - Membership
Section 1. Membership is open to all currently registered students, faculty and staff of CSUH.
Section 2. Only Hayward State Taekwondo Club Members may hold office.
Section 3. There will be no discrimination based upon race, religion, creed, national origin, sex, age, physical handicap or sexual orientation.
Section 4. No member of the Hayward State Taekwondo Club will engage in hazing or commit any act that injures, degrades or disgraces any member.
Section 5. All potential members will be required to complete an application form before acceptance to the Hayward State Taekwondo Club.
Section 6. All members are required to sign a liability waiver for each year of membership.
Section 7. All members are required to pay an annual fee determined by the Hayward State Taekwondo Club officers.

Article IV - Officers/Elections
Section 1. The elected officers will be the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Public Relations.
Section 2. The officers will be nominated and elected by a majority of votes cast by club members and officers.
Section 3. A member may be nominated by a club member and must receive a second nomination by another member.
Section 4. A club member may nominate himself or herself for a club officer position.
Section 5. In order to be eligible for office, a candidate must be a currently registered student at California State University, Hayward. All positions, excluding Presidency, require a minimum of one years experience as a Hayward State Taekwondo Club member. In order to be eligible for Presidency, a minimum of 1 years experience as a club officer is required.
Section 6. In the event that there are no candidates with greater than 1 years experience as a Hayward State Taekwondo Club member to run for a position, excluding Presidency, exceptions may be made at the President's discretion for members with less than a year's experience.
Section 7. In the event that there are no candidates with 1 years experience as a Hayward State Taekwondo Club officer, those with a minimum of 2 years experience as a club member may be eligible. Exceptions for those who do not meet these requirements may be made at the President's and the Club Advisor's discretion.
Section 8. Officers will be elected annually.
Section 9. Elections will be held in the first meeting, held within 21 days of the beginning of the academic school year.
Section 10. Vacancies will be filled by a special election called by the President.
Section 11. Each nominee may be allowed a statement before votes are cast.
Section 12. A majority vote of 51% or more is required to be elected to any position.
Section 13. The duties of the officers are outlined in the Bylaws.

Article V - Meetings
Section 1. Regular meetings will be held monthly.
Section 2. Special meetings may be requested by any Hayward State Taekwondo Club officer but may only be called by the President.
Section 3. Quorum for a regular or special meeting will be 3 officers, 1 of which must be the President.

Article VI - Finances
Section 1. All funds of this organization will be banked with the Associated Students.
Section 2. A minimum of $2,000 must be set aside in this account as a reserve, only to be used in emergency situations.
Section 3. A majority vote by club officers is required to access the club reserves.

Article VII - Parliamentary Authority
The Gloria Romero Open Meeting Act, will be used for all points not covered in this constitution.

Article VIII - Constitutional Amendments
This constitution may be amended by the president and must be approved by 2/3 vote of the club officers during a club meeting.

Article IX - Ratification
This constitution shall be ratified by a majority of votes cast at the first regular meeting, approved by the campus advisor and the California State University, Hayward.

Article X - Bylaws Amendments
The Bylaws may be amended by the president and must be approved by 2/3 votes of the club officers during a club meeting.

BYLAWS

Article I - Officers' Duties
Section 1. The President presides at all regular and special meetings. The President is the official representative of the club. The President is responsible for calling meetings and maintaining order at the meetings.
Section II. The Vice President performs the duties of the President in the President's absence. The Vice President is also responsible for reservation and preparation of facilities for meetings.
Section III. The Secretary takes the minutes at all meetings and prepares them for approval at the next meeting. The Secretary is also responsible for maintaining all of the club's records and paperwork, excluding the club's finances, throughout the year.
Section IV. The Treasurer maintains all financial records and provide an updated transaction report at every meeting.
Section V. The Public Relations officer is responsible for all of the club's advertising and is the representative to the various University publications and is responsible for updating them with information about club activities and events.

Article II - Dues
Regular dues will be assessed and approved by the Hayward State Taekwondo Club during a regular meeting by a majority vote and will be collected once every academic year by the Treasurer.
